Where did all the May go?

apricot pie

What do you know, May is just about gone. Summer fruit seems to be here all at once this year. This weekend, you should come on down for pies made out of apricots, peaches, blueberries, nectarines, blackberries, loganberries, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries, cherries and more! Many fruits came a little early and some might leave early, but at the moment, we have so many different pies we barely have room to display them all. We need your help! Come and eat them up!

This year was not so kind to cherries, so we may see an even shorter season that usual. Between drought, late hail and not enough chill over the winter, many of the farms we get cherries from had little or no cherries, but we have some now. If you have your heart set on cherry pie, large or small, it would be a good idea to order ahead, as supplies are limited.

Remember, we are now open until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays for your enjoyment.

Friday is Pie Day May 23

summer hoursHey Everybody! It’s Friday again! Summer hours are here! We will be open late Friday and Saturday, until 9pm and we are open all weekend, as usual, even Monday.

Many of you are having a three day weekend, and with this summertime weather, you probably are going to be at a barbecue or picnic or some other festive gathering. It will be too hot to make your own pie, so that’s why we are here! We have berries, peaches, apricots, rhubarb and more! Want to be sure you get the pie you want? Call the shop 707-7MMM-PIE (766-6743) or order online!

Wandering around downtown? We have our fine selection of savory pies and cold beverages like Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade and Cold Brewed Iced Coffee and ice cream, too (not to mention PIE).

While enjoying the “first weekend of summer”, let us not  forget that this holiday weekend is for Memorial Day, when we remember those who died while in the military. As always, we offer a military discount, just let us know at the counter.

roses and pieWe are getting all kinds of new fruits just in time for Mother’s Day. We will have Triple Berry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry Rhubarb, Apricot and more! We even have Cherry, which is dear, but so is Mother! If you want to get the exact special pie for that exact special lady, give us a call or order online. And we will be open as usual on Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm if you want to treat mom to lunch and dessert.

It’s heating up

weather reportOver the next few days it will be unseasonably hot for our town for this time of year. While we will have plenty of hot savory pies and cold salad, we also have nice cold ones, like chocolate cream, banana cream and more. Or if you are feeling fruity, try an Apricot, Apple or Strawberry Rhubarb pie topped with some ice cold Straus organic vanilla ice cream. Just thirsty? We’ve got cold soda , house made iced teas, cold brewed iced coffee and our famous Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade is back!

You can enjoy all this and more sitting outside in the shade in Helen Putnam Plaza!

Are you ready for summer?

No matter what season it is, Petaluma Pie has the pie for you.

This Friday is the Summer Solstice AKA the first day of summer. We are just about through with Cherry, but we still have Apricot, Peach, Nectarine Blackberry, Triple Berry, Strawberry Rhubarb and more!

As usual we will be at the Wednesday night farmers market in Petaluma from 4:30 to 8 on Wednesday and on Friday, we will be at the Occidental Farmers Market from 4:00 to 8:00.

If you are going to the Sonoma Marin fair in Petaluma this Saturday evening, check out our chef demo at 6pm. They have kindly invited us back for our third year. Does that make it an annual tradition?

What Kind Of Pie Does Father Want?

how to tie a tie or pie a pie

Hey Everybody! Father’s Day is coming right up this Sunday, and Father wants pie, not a tie, but what kind of pie does he want? If you can figure it out, come in or give us a call and place your order. Right now, Father can have his choice of so many kinds of pie including:
Apple, Apricot, Banana Cream, Boysenberry, Butterscotch Cream, Cherry, Chocolate Cream, Loganberry, Nectarine Blackberry, Peach, Strawberry Rhubarb, Triple Berry and more. He can even have Pecan (but it must be ordered, we don’t make that all the time with all this fruit around).

If Father is more of a savory pie kind of guy, check the menu for even more choices.

Friday is Pie Day May 31

loganberries make a fine pie

Loganberries!

Well folks, that’s it, the week’s over, the month’s over and we are on into June. We still have apricot and cherries, nectarine with blackberry, peach and now we will start having boysenberries and loganberries. Both these berries are short season and both are variations on crosses between blackberries and raspberries. They each have their own unique flavor ans you can try them, but we recommend ordering ahead. Since these are precious and premium, they are slightly higher priced (like cherry) but worth it. Loganberries can’t be bought anywhere, due to their delicate nature (they can’t survive the trip to market) but we grow them and boysenberries used to be widely grown in California, but now most farms grow blackberries and raspberries.
It will be oh, so hot this weekend, so come on by for some cold brewed iced coffee, iced tea, strawberry rhubarb lemonade, soda pop and ice cream (with your delicious seasonal fruit pie). If it is too hot for you to cook, give us a call and we will cook a savory pie or two for you!
