Friday is Pie Day April 18th

Hey Everybody, it’s Friday, which is ALWAYS pie day. The Easter Bunny is on his way and he’s hungry for PIE! Maybe you and your family are hungry for pie as well. We are getting a lot of orders for Sunday, so if you are looking for a special pie for Easter, you should get your order in or just settle for jelly beans and chocolate bunnies.

We just so happen to be flush with fresh asparagus from the pie garden, so you can order a Roasted Asparagus Quiche! If you need something with bacon, we’ve got you covered as well, but you will need to order ahead!

Signs of spring…

It is another beautiful sunny day in Petaluma, but fortunately, rain is coming this week. Out in the pie garden there are signs of spring stirring. Asparagus is just poking it’s head out and rhubarb is waking up also. March is just around the corner, bringing with it the pies of March!

Today, of course, pie is what is for lunch, dinner afternoon snack or dessert.

April Showers…

asparagus for pie at Petaluma Pie Company, a bakery in Sonoma County, Northern California

Brings Asparagus! Did we mention that we have asparagus? Before there was even a plan for a pie shop, we dug two long trenches, filled them with rich compost and asparagus crowns. We weeded and tended them, adding more compost every year and now, in year four of these asparagus beds, we can finally ┬áharvest freely. This warm weather and spring rain are really making them grow. They seem to shoot up 6 inches a day! In case you haven’t tried it yet, have Asparagus, Leek and Egg Pie with fresh dill and fromage blanc from Cowgirl Creamery on the menu these days and very soon we will have other tasty asparagus options for you. See you for lunch!

Spring Ahead
