Petaluma Mayor David Glass and Chris Cota
We are so pleased to announce that Petaluma Pie Company employee, Chris Cota was presented with a Mayor’s Committee for Best Practices award and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Mayor David Glass of Petaluma last week. Chris was selected for his achievements in overcoming his (dis)abilities and going to Santa Rosa Junior College to study engineering, getting a job at Petaluma Pie Company, and working towards becoming independent. Chris was given a life-changing diagnosis 8 years ago while he was still in high school. Chris had struggled with his debilitating health issues, but was determined not to let them stop him from pursuing his dream. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, only about 17.5 percent of people who are identified as disabled are employed but Chris’s achievements defy the grim statistics. Chris is recognized for paving a path towards independence for other folks with disabilities. Congratulations Chris!
